Pulimurugan leaked out from Cinepolis Ernakulam and no Malayalam films will release there from now on!
Pulimurugan, the historical success starred by Mohanlal is still going strong even after affected by demonetization and piracy issue. The worldwide collection of the movie is moving towards 140 crores and the total business done by the movie will touch 155 crores soon as well. The piracy issue had affected the movie’s performance a bit at the box office and the strong action taken by the team behind the movie with the help of the Anti- Piracy Cell in Kerala was instrumental in bringing down the damage rate. At first, it was believed that the pirated print of the movie had come from the overseas market. But, now the forensic investigation of the pirated print revealed that it was leaked out from Cinepolis multiplex chain at Ernakulam. As a reaction to this, distributors association and exhibitors association here decided not to give any Malayalam movie to Cinepolis group from now on to screen there.
The decision is made as per the rules formed some years before. The rules formed by Exhibitors association and distributors association says that if a single screen theater or multiplex chain fails to prevent the leaking out of a movie’s print from there and found out to be the source from which the pirated print leaked, they will not be given Malayalam movies from then on.
